In loving memory of Margaret Ann Schmidt (nee Walker) who went to be with our Lord on Jan. 21. 

Marge had an aneurism in 2003 and lived at home, but more recently lived in an assisted care home until her death near her children in Beaver Dam. Marge was surrounded by her loving family at her passing. Margaret was born Nov. 27, 1935 in Eastman. She was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Mara) Walker. On June 5, 1955 she was married to Gerald Schmidt of Wauzeka. To this union four children were born. One daughter, Teresa Ann, passed away in 1958. Marge attended the two year Dodge Country Teachers College and got her Master’s in education in Oshkosh. Marge taught 4th Grade in the Horicon, School system. Margaret was active in her community as Union President, Christian Mothers, and Secretary of the Lions Club, Wauzeka. Marge and Jerry raised their family in Horicon, and later built their retirement home on Wauzeka Ridge, an area they loved. Margaret loved gardening, bowling and bingo and was a loving mother to Bob, Dennis and Ed.

Left to mourn Marge are her sons, Robert (Laurie) Schmidt of Beaver Dam, Dennis (Jeanne) Schmidt of Mayville, Ed Schmidt of Horicon; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Kevin, Brock, Stacey, Katie, Becky, Tiffany and Brittney along with a great grandchild Aylah; her sisters, Marolyn (Phillip) Scott of Ft. Worth, Texas, Angela Savinelli of Austin, Texas, Charlene (John) Adler of Laguna Vista, Texas, Susan Walker of Rapid City, S.D.; her brothers, Charles (Joyce) Walker of Eastman, John Walker of Eastman, Don (Mary) Walker of Wauzeka, and Ron Walker of Battle Ground, Wash. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jerry; mother and dad, Anna and Charles Walker; brothers, Bobby and Joe Walker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. Victor Feltes officiating, with burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery both in Wauzeka. Friends may call at the church on Monday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
