Patrick Leo Shannon, 68, of Fairbank, Iowa passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 15, after battling cancer.

Patrick was born Aug. 23, 1946 in Fairbank, Iowa to Daniel and Veronica (Weber) Shannon. Patrick graduated from the Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, Fairbank in 1964. He married Susan Kleitsch on Sept. 19, 1971 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, Iowa.

Patrick served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 1, 1963 to November 1967. He retired from Deere and Company in Waterloo after 33 years. After retiring, he worked at the Isle of Capri in Marquette, Iowa for 5 years.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Susan Shannon of Fairbank; daughter, Kimberely Shannon (Terry Kupka), Holt, Mo.; two sons, Christopher (Kara) Shannon, of Charles City, Iowa and Trevor (Mandy) Shannon, of Burnsville, Minn.; six grandchildren, Aidan, Garet, Emry, Aislynn, Andrea and Asher; two brothers, Dale (Dorothy) Shannon of Raymond, Dan (Deanna) Shannon of Waterloo; two sisters, Colleen (Joe) Bovy of Fairbank and Marian (Pat) Woods of Jesup.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Andrea; and his father in-law Norbert Kleitsch.

Funeral services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Paul McManus and Deacon Jim Patera will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 3 to 7 p.m. and one hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home. There will be a Rosary at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and a Scripture service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank, with military rites conducted by Fortsch-Duffy Post 552, Fairbank.

Woods Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requested memorials to given to American Cancer Society (Hope Lodge), Fairbank American Legion Veterans Park or to the family.
