cheerleaders advance to State

On Saturday, Feb. 21 the Prairie du Chien Blackhawk Cheerleaders attended the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer and Pom Coaches) Northern Regional Cheer Competition held at Waupaca High School. Teams placing in the top halves of their divisions advanced on to state competition.

The team placed second in Division 2 Small Cheer Dance, allowing them to advance to state in that division. The girls also placed first in the in Non-Stunt Division, making them the northern regional champions and allowing them to advance to state in that division as well!

Coach Kelli Saxe said, “I am so very pleased with the outcome of regionals. To qualify in both divisions is quite an accomplishment! The girls have been putting a lot of time in and hard work to make this happen. To be regional champions for both dance team and cheer is pretty amazing! The girls are pumped and are looking forward to state on Saturday!”

The WACPC State Cheer Competition is Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. The competition begins at 9 a.m. Prairie du Chien competes in the cheer dance division at 9:40 a.m. and in the non-stunt division at 12:08 p.m., with awards at approximately 2:15 p.m. The girls would love to see some Prairie fans in the stands rooting for them and their amazing season!
