Catharine Lechnir Daugherty, 88, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., formally of Jefferson City, Tenn., died March 30, of natural causes. “For every end no matter how tragic, there will be a new beginning.”

Catharine was born in Prairie du Chien, on March 31, 1926, the fifth child of Henry and Anna Lechnir. She graduated from Prairie du Chien High School and was valedictorian of her class. She was a consummate mother and homemaker who was also a remarkable seamstress and accomplished artist. She was a proud member of the National League of American Pen Women, displaying her works in many league shows. She received her LPN nursing degree from Jefferson Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing in Jefferson City and worked several years at the hospital and at the Jefferson County Nursing Home.

Catharine was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Raymond E. Daugherty. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Daugherty of Walland, Tenn.; sons, Brion Daugherty of Edgewood N.M., Kevin Daugherty and wife Melissa of Tijeras, N.M., and Patrick Daugherty of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ross, John, Maris, and Margaret Daugherty; one great-grandson, Lev; brother-in-law, Don Daugherty and wife Mable of Cantonement, Fla; sisters-in-law, Ruth Todd and husband, David, and Dianne Withey and husband, Kenneth of Prairie du Chien; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and Mass will be held Wednesday, April 8, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 111 Hinton Ave., Knoxville, TN at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, TN.
