David S. Krieg, 83, of LaCrosse, died peacefully in his home Tuesday, March 31. 

He was born Dec. 14, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Leo and Mary (Leibold) Krieg. He married Rose Ann Rink on Sept. 28, 1957 at St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien. He was a proud alumnus of Campion Jesuit High School Class of 1949. Dave worked for Growmark FS for 41 years, and at one time, served as legislative chairman and president of the Wisconsin Fertilizer and Pesticide Association. He served as past president of the Jaycees and was later involved with the AARP Wisconsin Advocacy Council. He was an avid golfer and recorded three “holes in one.” In his retirement he worked as a medical records clerk for the Verona Family Practice Clinic. He helped organize a men’s singing group at St. Andrew’s Parish in Verona. Dave loved to garden and fish almost as much as he loved his wife and children. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Ann of LaCrosse; his daughters, Kelly (Michael) Krieg-Sigman of LaCrosse, Jill (Scott Stoeffler) Krieg of Downers Grove, Ill., his son Mark Krieg of Boca Raton, Fla.; his brother Alan (Sandy) Krieg of Wauzeka; his sisters, Jeannie Van Ert and Sharon (Jim) Malecki both of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Carol (Robert) Breen of Scottsdale, Ariz. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Lee Huser.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 13, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Reverends Robert Cook and James Weighner concelebrating, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Monday, April 13, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred which will be distributed to some of Dave’s favorite charities. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
