Serge Lee Sisler II, 55, completed his baptismal journey May 1, 2015, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit, St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

A private family service was held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread on the beaches of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.

He was born Sept. 16, 1959, to Serge L. and Paula (Freese) Sisler. Serge II was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He received his education at North Linn Schools in Coggon and attended Kirkwood College, where he received his training in CNC Machining. He worked at the Linn County State Bank, Barnes Manufacturing and Ledford Engineering where he enjoyed the last 18 years of employment.

Serge II is survived by the love of his life, Gail Handeland; his parents; a brother, Sharm (ReDawn); a sister, Staci (Ford); and two nephews, Kaeden and Conner Sisler.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Irene Freese; paternal grandparents, Rufus and Frieda Sisler; and two uncles, Richard and Roger Freese.

The family would like to extend a gracious thank-you to Dr. Warren and the nurses of P.C.I. Oncology and especially to the St. Luke’s Hospice nurses for their compassionate care of Serge II and his family. The family would also like to thank Ledford Engineering for their understanding and continued support of Serge throughout the past year.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Luke’s Hospice unit.
