Seneca throws to first for the out against visiting Wauzeka-Steuben Monday.

The Wauzeka-Steuben runner takes a good lead off of third base while watching a throw to first by the Seneca catcher.

bests Seneca girls

Seneca hosted Wauzeka-Steuben (WS) Monday night in conference softball action.  WS took the lead with Jadyn Sander getting on base with a single to center, stealing second and both Sander and Molly Heisz scoring on Seneca errors.  

WS would add 2 more runs in the third with an over the fence home run by Molly Heisz and Siena Krachey scoring on an infield grounder by Lexi Bird. Seneca would put a run on the board with Kennedi Smith hitting a single to left, stealing second, advancing to third on an infield grounder by Michelle Clark and scoring on an infield hit by Emily Garfoot.  

WS would then score 2 in the fourth starting with a triple by Kelsey Kapinus, who scored on a double to right by Molly Heisz. Heisz would then tag up and score on a fly ball by Jamee McCullick.  

Seneca would add 2 more in the fifth with Kennedi Smith hitting a double to left and Michaela Chambers hitting a single with a bunt. Both Smith and Chambers would score on a double to left by Michelle Clark. Jadyn Sander then got on base with a double to left and scored on an infield hit by Whitni Marfilius. Molly Heisz would then be walked in to score WS’s second run in the sixth. Seneca put up 2 more runs with an over the fence home run by Taylor Redman while Haley Wall would get on with a single to left, steal second and score on a double to center by Kennedi Smith, making the score Seneca 5, WS 8.  

In the top of the seventh, Kelsey Kapinus walked. Jaydn Sander got a single to left and both Kapinus and Sander would score on an over the fence home run by Molly Heisz. Siena Krachey would score the fourth run of the inning for WS to make the final WS 12, Seneca 5.  

Haley Wall took the loss for Seneca with 6 strikeouts and 5 walks. Morgan Wall also pitched for Seneca with 1 strikeout and 3 walks.  

Whitni Marfilius took the win for WS with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. Seneca will next travel to Weston for a doubleheader on Thursday and host Ithaca on Friday.
