Dorothy Halverson, 87, of McGregor, Iowa, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 26.

Dorothy Rosemary Pfiffner was born Sept. 10, 1927, the daughter of Edmond and Clara (Miller) Pfiffner of Lansing, Iowa. Dorothy married Roger Halverson of Waukon, Iowa, and the couple moved to McGregor where they raised their three daughters. Dorothy was a housewife and businesswoman, operating Dorothy’s Beauty Salon out of her home in downtown McGregor for many years. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, and enjoyed crocheting, dancing to big band music and spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Joe) Brooks of Portland, Ore., Judy Muller of Chicago, Ill. and Joan (Gary) Howe of Prairie du Chien; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and her sister Leona Welch of Caledonia, Minn.

In addition to her parents Edward and Clara, Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers, Albert and Mike Pfiffner; and sisters Helen Doubek, Alice Slindee, Rita Asleson, Theresa Grace and Anna Mae Adams. 

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 2 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
