Helen Marie (Knoke) Taylor, 98, of Coon Rapids, MN, previously of Elkader, passed away on May 14, 2015.  Helen was born April 22, 1917, in Klemme, IA, the second child born to Fred H. and Ella (Glawe) Knoke. She was baptized at the Reformed Church in Klemme on July 1s, 1917.  

In early March 1926, the family relocated from rural Hancock County, near Klemme, to Elkader.  Helen attended the first four grades in country school, then town school, graduating from Elkader High School with the class of 1936.  She did office work full-time and part-time for more than 40 years, retiring in 1985.  She attended Sunday school and in 1931, became a confirmed member of Peace Church.  Over the years, she was active in the Sunday school, Women’s Fellowship and as a Council Member.  

On August 1, 1941, she married Charles A. Taylor at Peace Church. Their first home was in St. Charles, IL, and during 53 years of marriage, lived in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and letter writing for many years.  

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Mary (Paul) Johnson of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Ruth Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Matthew (Julie) Johnson of Wichita, KS and Rebecca Johnson of Coon Rapids, MN; great grandchildren, Grace, Benedict, Sophia and Gabriel; brothers, Vernon (Vadena) Knoke of Olivia, Minnesota and Fred Knoke of Elkader; many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends.  

She is preceded in death by husband, Charles; parents, Fred and Ella; sisters, Lorraine Meyer, Ivanell Webber, Marion Zittergruen; brothers, Harold, Kenneth, and Clarence Knoke.  

Memorials preferrred to:  Peace United Church of Christ, 301 North Main St., PO Box 268, Elkader IA 52043; Volunteers of America Homestead at Coon Rapids, 11372 Robinson Dr. NW, Coon Rapids MN 55433: or the Outreach/Homebound program of your local library system.   

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, where there was a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial: was at East Side Cemetery, Elkader.
