On Sunday, June 7, at approximately 2:37 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 18, three tenths of a mile east of Ward Road in the township of Bridgeport.

Marsha M. Scott, 29,  of Bloomington, was operating a 1999 Buick LeSabre eastbound on Highway 18 when she lost control of the vehicle. Scott’s vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the westbound lane of traffic. The vehicle then hit the ditch on the west side of the roadway and flipped approximately three or four times. The vehicle came to rest facing westbound on its roof.

A vehicle following Scott called 911 to report the accident. The witness stated that Scott was traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident.

The witness observed Scott’s vehicle operating in the wrong lane of traffic multiple times and stated that Scott’s vehicle went into the gravel on the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then made a sharp turn across all lanes of traffic striking the ditch.

Scott was transported with possible injuries to Crossing Rivers Health Care. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was a total loss. Scott was arrested for OWI (second offense) and received citations for operating left of center and unreasonable and imprudent speed.

Assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department on scene were Bob’s Towing, Bridgeport Fire Department, Bridgeport Fire Responders, Prairie du Chien Police Department and Tri State Ambulance.
