Vernon Gene Peuker, 76, of Edgewood, Iowa, died at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2015.  He was born on September 12, 1938, at his grandparents farm near Elkport, the son of Paul Christ and Geraldine Amanda (Waterman) Peuker. Vernon attended rural country school near Bear Creek and then Edgewood School. After his schooling he farmed with his brother Keith for over 50 years.  He also worked for Costigan Construction and  hauled milk.

Vernon loved his family very much. He enjoyed taking care of his tractors and his cars and loved spending time with cows and calves.

Survivors include his three siblings, Keith Peuker of Edgewood, Linda Handke of Elkader,  and Margie (Jerry) Harbaugh of Edgewood; one nephew, James Handke of Elkader; two nieces, Amanda Krapfl  of Strawberry Point, and Paula Hansel of Elkader; special cousins, Shirley Jentz and Geraldine Jentz of Edgewood;  and great-nieces, Samantha”Sam” Hansel of Elgin, Kassidy Krapfl, and Violet Genthe, both of Strawberry Point.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Art Handke, Jr.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood, Iowa. Rev. Harold McMillan officiated.Interment followed at Mount Harmony Cemetery, Garber. Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood, Iowa.
