Rita Rae Lodge McBeain, 82, of Clarksville, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville.

Visitation was Wednesday, June 17, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, and one hour before services at the church. 

Funeral services were Thursday, June 18, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. conducted by Pastor Linda Myren.

Organist was Harriet Forry and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Special music was provided by Aimeé Lodge as she sang “Come to The River” and “His Eye is on The Sparrow.” 

Burial was at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville with Matt Lodge, Bo Lodge, Kendall Meyer, Trevor Vance, Steve Lodge, Luke Lodge, Brandon Grover, Chad Backer and Steve Durnan serving as casketbearers.

Rita was born the daughter of Louis Jacob and Adelia L. (Kracht) Meehlhause on June 11, 1933, in Peterson. Growing up, Rita worked at her parents' movie theater in Clarksville. Rita was a drum majorette in school and graduated with the honor of Valedictorian from Clarksville High School in 1951.   

On Sept. 29, 1951, Rita was united in marriage with Don (Doc) Richard Lodge at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Clarksville all their married life. After their marriage, Rita stayed at home as a homemaker until after Brock was born. Doc and Rita later purchased Doc’s Tap where they worked together until his death on Nov. 5, 1986. Rita then took over the operation of the business until 1991 when she sold it to Frank and Barbara.

Rita was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. She had a wonderful voice and sang at several weddings and funerals in the area. Rita enjoyed their yearly fishing trips to Canada and their times they went boating at Okoboji and on the river. She always enjoyed times spent with family and friends.

Rita was married to Marvin McBeain on June 25, 1993, at the Little Brown Church as well and they moved to Arizona for ten years, and then moved to Guttenburg. Marvin died Dec. 28, 2011.

Rita is survived by six children, Bradley (Sue) Lodge of Clarksville, Bruce (Sue) Lodge of Clarksville, Barbara (Frank) Vance of Clarksville, Brian (Ellen) Lodge of Waverly, Bart (Deb) Lodge of Clarksville and Brock (Kim) Lodge of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Vivian Meehlhause of Fairview, Texas; one nephew, Mark (Tricia) Meehlhause of Lucas, Texas and one niece, Beverly Dickman of Clarksville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Lodge; her second husband, Marvin McBeain; a stillborn son, Richard Ray; a granddaughter, Tara Lodge; her parents; and a brother, Gary Meehlhause.
