Fatal crash takes life of motorcyclist
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and County X Friday afternoon, June 26, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. The accident occurred just before 1:45 p.m. in the town of Clayton.
Eugene Ray Janke Sr., 66, of Black Rivers Falls, was traveling south on Highway 61 on a 2012 Harley Davidson pulling a trailer. Janke was traveling with a group of other motorcyclists. He went off the west side shoulder into the ditch, striking a pole and an embankment and was ejected from the cycle. Janke, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting at the scene was the Wisconsin State Patrol, North Crawford Rescue, Tri-State Ambulance, MedLink Air, Soldiers Grove Fire, Gays Mills Fire and Terry’s Tire and Tow.
