Lester E. Weisensale, 68, of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, July 27, at his home surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

He was born Jan. 26, 1947 in York, Pa. the son of Lester and Gladys (Stauffer) Weisensale Sr. He entered service in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps being honorably discharged in 1973. He married Janette Belken on Oct. 20, 1973 at the Castle Rock Lutheran Church. Lester enjoyed his work as an EMT for the Prairie du Chien Rescue Squad and was an animal lover. 

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan Weisensale of Prairie du Chien; their daughter Lisa Weisensale of Dubuque, Iowa; his brothers, Brian (Susan) of York, Pa. and David (Lydia) of Hellam, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Sandra Ferguson and a brother Stanley Weisensale.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Joe Irvin officiating, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Military honors will be accorded by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
