Evelyn C. Oliver, 93, of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Atrium Care Center in Lancaster. 

She was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Vernon County, the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Taylor) Sletten. She married Merlin Oliver on Feb. 27, 1943 in Waukon, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1987. Together they farmed tobacco in the Bad Axe River Valley. Evelyn was an active member of the Bad Axe Lutheran Church. 

She is survived by her children, Shirley (Gary) Haakenson of Ferryville, Phillip (Jenny) of Mabank, Texas, Diane Borchardt of Spencer, Howard of La Crosse, Micheal (Patricia) of West Salem, Janet and Gary Oliver both of Prairie du Chien; a brother Donald Sletten of San Benito, Texas; her sisters, Hilda Oliver and Verla Stueland both of Viroqua, along with numerous grand and great grandchildren.

According to Evelyn’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service. A private family graveside service will be later in the Walnut Mound Cemetery in Retreat. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
