GermanFest homebrew winners announced

Ballots were cast by 77 GermanFest guests  who sampled nine different homebrews in a competition that featured entries from area home brewers.

The contest winner was Home Lite submitted by Dr. Andy Smith of Guttenberg and second place went to David Scott of Urbandale.

The Guttenberg Development & Tourism’s GermanFest committee coordinated publicity, and The Guttenberg Press generously covered news of the event.

The tasting would not be possible without support from brewers including Fred Smith of St. Paul, David Saunders of Guttenberg, and Jon Ross of Dyersville. The contest was made possible with the help of volunteers including Deb and Chris Moser and Bec Knudtson.

Proceeds from the contest support festival and visitor services in Guttenberg.
