Steven Chris Glawe, 59, of Elkader, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at his home in Elkader.

Visitation was one hour before services at the church.

Funeral service were Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, conducted by Pastor Marshall Hahn.

Burial was at Norway Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural St. Olaf. Casketbearers were Steve’s nieces and nephews, Christopher Glawe, Annie Glawe, Rodney Glawe, Elizabeth Glawe, Erin McIntyre, Abby Tuttle, Jeremiah Tuttle, Martin McIntyre and Colby Fangman.

Leonard Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Steve was born July 21, 1956, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Bernelle and Wilma (Scherf) Glawe.  Steve was baptized Sept. 25, 1956, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo and confirmed Oct. 12, 1973, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf.

Steve attended special school for work training. He lived and worked with RISE. He enjoyed sports, traveling, listening to country and church music. Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Watching the Cubbies and Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football teams were also high on his favorite list! He was a longtime participant in Special Olympics; earning medals in running, swimming and softball throwing.

Survivors include his mother, Wilma Glawe of Garnavillo; brothers, Rick (Rowanne) Glawe of Cedar Rapids and Victor (Lori) Glawe of Windsor Heights; nieces and nephews, Abby (Jeremiah) Tuttle of Johnston, Erin (Martin) McIntyre of Birmingham, Ala., Elizabeth Glawe of Indianola, Rodney (Heidi) Glawe of St. Olaf, Annie Glawe (Colby Fangman) of Ames, Christopher Glawe of Windsor Heights; great-nieces and nephews, Marissa, Landon, Brylie, Ariella, Harrison, Lila and Martin and many friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Bernelle; brothers, Alan Glawe and Rodney Glawe; sisters, Judith Glawe, Carolyn Glawe and nephew, Logan Glawe.
