William Harold Walke, died Nov. 2, 2015.

Visitation was Wednesday, Nov 4, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Interment was at Guttenberg City Cemetery, Guttenberg.

Bill was born on Sept. 29, 1933, to Harold and Ernestine Becker Walke on the Walke family farm near Guttenberg. He attended Jolly Ridge School and graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1951. He worked for his great-uncle Paul Friedlein for a year and then spent four years in the U.S. Navy, half of that time aboard the U.S.S. Neches which cruised the Mediterranean with the Navy’s Sixth Fleet.

Following his discharge from the Navy, Bill attended Iowa State University and then spent more than thirty years as an officer with the Iowa State Patrol. During that time, he completed a course at the F.B.I. Academy in Virginia and received an associate degree from the University of Northern Iowa. After retiring from the State Patrol, he moved back to Guttenberg. Bill was a member of the local Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Guttenberg Fire Department and served on the Guttenberg City Council. He enjoyed travelling, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. 

Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Willenborg; children Bill (Tina) Walke and John (Shelli) Walke both of Claremore, OK; Wendy (Chris) Fechner of La Crescent, Minn., Chad (Annette) Willenborg of Guttenberg; grandchildren, Eric (Heather), Lyndon, Ben, Liam, Will, Audrey, Luke, Cole, Jess, Courtney, Kristen and Kolten; his great-grandchildren, Emerson, Ella Grace and Callan; his sister, Judy (Gary) Havener of Fort Worth, Texas; his nephews, Jim and Jason Laughlin and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
