Prairie du Chien grapplers fall to MFL Mar/Mac 39-36

On Thursday, Dec. 10, the Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestling team traveled to McGregor for a nonconference meet with rival MFL Mar/Mac. MFL Mar/Mac is one of the favorites to win the Upper Iowa Conference this year. As expected, it was a very close meet.

The match started at 120 pounds and MFL recorded a fall. PdC responded by winning the next two matches. Clayton Beers, 126, used a series of tilts before pinning his opponent in the second period. Nick Rogge, 132, followed with a decisive win, 8-2. 

MFL won the next three matches by fall before receiving a forfeit at 160. Ethan Swiggum, 170, then put a spark in the Prairie faithful by lateral dropping his opponent for a quick pin in the first period. Brendan Fleshner, 182, followed with a solid 8-4 decision before Stephen Ronnfeldt, 195, lost a tough match 7-4. 

MFL then forfeited to Peyton Hall at 220 before recording another fall at 285. At 106, Reid Koenig scored several back points on tilts before pinning his opponent in the second period. Chase Watson followed suit at 113 by quickly scoring a take down and pinning his opponent.
