Ruth (Corson) Tuecke, 97, of Guttenberg, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Friday, Jan. 22, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 23, at the funeral home.

Interment was at Garnavillo Community Cemetery, Garnavillo.

Ruth was born in Littleport on Jan. 23, 1918, to T. Franklin and Laura (Jennings) Corson, the first daughter and the third of eight children.

Ruth graduated from Littleport High School and attended Elkader Junior College after which she taught country school. On April 9, 1938, she married Carl Tuecke of Guttenberg. She was employed for almost twenty years as a secretary at Farmer’s Mutual Insurance in Garnavillo and later she was the drive-up teller at First National Bank in Waverly for over 20 years. In 1993, 10 years after Carl retired as the campus electrician for Wartburg College, they returned to Guttenberg, Carl’s hometown.

Ruth is survived by her three sons, John (Patricia) Tuecke of DeKalb, Ill., William (Mary) Tuecke of Marion, and Daniel (Patricia) Tuecke of Beaverton, Ore.; six grandsons, one granddaughter; 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Anna Mae (Tuecke) Anderson of Milwaukee, Wis., and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers and sisters and their spouses; by five of her six brothers- and sisters-in-law and by one grandson.

In lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, Ruth has requested that you make a donation in her honor to either St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, the Guttenberg Public Library or Clayton Ridge Dollars for Scholars.
