Two lots in Prairie du Chien’s North Gateway Business Park are the subjects of an option to purchase that City Attorney Lara Czajkowski Higgins is drafting for BoxLogix Automation, LLC. The company, which is currently located at 1303 S. 8th St. (in the white building), Prairie du Chien, develops and delivers custom material handling solutions, according to its website.

Through the option to purchase, BoxLogix will be offered a parcel of land, across from Country Inn and Suites, at the cost of $100 for the option and $100 per acre. Czajkowski Higgins said a certified survey map must be done to determine the total acreage in the proposed purchase. The city anticipates selling one lot in its entirety and a second partial lot, not including the 350-foot scenic easement.

Other business
•The council directed Attorney Czajkowski Higgins to write a letter to the Town of Bridgeport, once again regarding meetings to discuss and possibly reach an agreement about boundary issues between the city and township.

•City staff is recommending the closure of Tax Increment District 2 this year, which will close with a positive cash balance and place about $3 million on the property tax roll.

•The council approved a resolution supporting the efforts of Crossing Rivers Health in constructing an access road to their facility and petitioning the Federal Aviation Administration to release certain land covenants to facilitate the construction of the access road. Dave Breitbach, representing Crossing Rivers, was present to answer questions for the council.

•A bid for the Haydn Street Storm Sewer Project was awarded to the lowest bidder, Rickleff Plumbing and Heating for $33,434, which is below the anticipated $35,000 the city had budgeted for the project.

•When sharing items to discuss at future meetings, Alderman Ron Leys asked for a report from Water Department Manager Larry Gates on the potential of any lead threat in the city’s water system, in light of the recent developments in Flint, Mich.
