Charles Roger Lange "Peanut," was born Feb. 25, 1939, to Charles and Leona Lange and passed away peacefully at Crossing Rivers Health on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016.

Roger was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he lived with his family until they relocated to McGregor. He graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1957. After graduation Roger attended Cornell University in Iowa then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1961 where he was stationed aboard the USS Dixie AD-14 out of San Diego, Calif. On Dec. 8, 1962 Roger married his high school sweetheart, Rita Kay Woerm, and shortly after they moved to Chula Vista, Calif., where they remained while he was in Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, they returned to McGregor where Roger worked as a plumber for the McGregor Hardware until he retired in 2001.

Peanut enjoyed playing a variety of sports throughout his life, including basketball, softball, bowling and fishing. As much as he enjoyed playing, nothing compared to watching his own children and grandchildren participate in sports.

His humor, kindness, and tender heart will be missed by ALL!

Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rita Kay; four children, David (Jennifer) of Goose Lake, Iowa, Debra (Jim McCluskey) of Prairie du Chien, Diane Lange (Torey Bartels) of Prairie du Chien and Duane (Heather) of Monona; eighteen grandchildren, Holly Pickett, Ryan Lange, Justin Reuter, Britni George, Charlie Lange, Stephanie Reuter, Kole George, Kenny Lange, Connor George, Ben Lange, Blake Bartels, Nate Lange, Brady Bartels, Jack Lange, Sam Reuter, Aden McCluskey, Ella Lange, and Kinsley Lange; ten great grandchildren.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Crossing Rivers Health for their exceptional care given to Peanut in his time of need.

A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 22 at the First Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
