Richard “Dick” Paul McAllen was born July 30, 1941, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Hugh and Eileen (Heth) McAllen. He passed away February 25, 2016, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein, Iowa. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette, and was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington. He attended Arlington Schools. Richard “Dick” was united in marriage to Maxine Margaret Belden on February 17, 1962, at the home of his grandparents, Paul and Emma Heth in Fayette.

Dick is survived by his wife of 54 years: Maxine of Arlington, IA; three sons: Scott McAllen (Angela Schutte) of Hazleton, IA; Shad (Mary Ann) McAllen of Griffithville, Arkansas; Ben McAllen; and one daughter: Susan (David) Beck of Arlington, IA; six grandchildren: Michael McAllen, Steven McAllen, Loran Beck, Connor McAllen, Courtney Baker, and Carson McAllen; three great-grandchildren: Jayla McAllen, Remington McAllen, and Anabelle McAllen; half-sister: Gloria (Gene) Aylsworth, Wadena; half-brother: Art (Dorothy) Eckheart, Arlington; a special aunt and uncle: Velda (Harry) Haldeman, Fairbank; sister-in-law: Shirley (Delbert) Gifford, Waterloo; brothers-in-law: Glenn (Sheila) Belden, Marengo, Russ (Pat) Belden, Clayton Center and Glen Morarie, Central City; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Eileen Eckheart; his step-dads: Eldo Eckheart and Alfred Eckheart; a daughter: Sherry Lynn (Feb. 22, 1980); brothers-in-law: Robert Hansel and Wayne Belden; sisters-in-law: Jean Morarie, Mary Belden and Mary Kay Hansel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington, Iowa, on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation on Thursday, April 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.. and one hour prior to services on Friday. 

Memorials may be directed to the family in Arlington. Iowa. Iowa Cremation is helping the family.
