Constance M. “Connie” Esser, 74, of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, April 1, at the Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien following an extended illness. 

She was born May 17, 1941 in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Virgil and Mildred (Kussmaul) Bushnell. She married Henry “Buzz” Esser on Sept. 28, 1963 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Connie worked in medical records for several different healthcare facilities in Prairie du Chien and was a member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary. 

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Buzz Esser of Prairie du Chien; her daughter Mary (Chris) Mara of Prairie du Chien; her sons, Dennis (Karyl Nicholson) Esser of DeForest, and Dave (Kari) Esser of Waunakee; her brothers, Tom Bushnell of Middleton, and Chuck Bushnell of DeForest; her sister Bonnie Horsfall of Middleton; along with five grandchildren, Jessica, Ethan, Jacob, Ellie and Adam.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be an Eagles Auxiliary tribute at 7 p.m. and a wake scripture at 7:30 p.m.
