Mary C. Kapinus, 70, of Wauzeka died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 6, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. 

She was born June 12, 1945 in Platteville, the daughter of George and Eva (Udelhoven) Pennekamp. She married William Kapinus on Oct. 2, 1965 in Tennyson. Mary worked at Rayovac in Fennimore, for over 29 years until her retirement. She enjoyed Bingo and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bill Kapinus of Wauzeka; her sons, William (Lisa) Jr., Robert (Sue) and Christopher (Jennifer) all of Wauzeka; her daughters, Catherine (Trampus) Thornton of McGregor, and Angela (Travis) Check of Wauzeka; her brothers, John (Linda) Pennekamp of Buffalo, Minn. and George (Kathy) Pennekamp of Potosi; her sister Ann Pennekamp of Potosi and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Anthony.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wauzeka, Rev. Victor Feltes officiating, with burial in the Wauzeka Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, April 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a wake scripture at 7:30 p.m. and at the Sacred Heart Church Hall one hour prior to services on Monday.
