Earl Frederick Reiser, 78, of Prairie du Chien, died on Thursday, May 19, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster,. 

He was born Dec. 3, 1937 to Clarence “Spot” and Esther (La Velle) Reiser in Prairie du Chien. Earl was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Prairie du Chien. He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1956.

Earl was a dispatcher and parking/meter reader for the Prairie du Chien Police Department and a school crossing guard. He enjoyed reading, Packers football, Badgers sports, old time movies and visiting with friends and family.

Earl is survived by his ten nieces and nephews, Cynthia, Becky, Donna, Kelly, Tracy, John, Kim, Ross, Jim and Janet; sisters, Nancy Reiser of Prairie du Chien and Jeanne (Neil) Hampton of Bloomington; brothers, Donald (Edith) Ritchie of Prairie du Chien and Cy (Etta) Harris of Union City, Tenn. and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Boots.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien. A private family burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with services.
