The Stars and Stripes Celebration in Guttenberg will be held on Saturday, July 2, in the park north of Clayton Ridge Schools (131 S. River Park Dr.), unless otherwise noted. The day will begin with a 5K Walk/Run (registration at 8 a.m. in the north park gazebo, run at 9 a.m.) sponsored by the Clayton Ridge Interact Club. Guttenberg’s DNR Fish Hatchery, located at 331 S. River Park Drive, will be open at 9 a.m. on Saturday for viewing of live river animals. The Lockmaster’s House Heritage Museum will be open to visitors from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The Lock and Dam #10 observation deck will be open all day.

Food, music, and games in the park begin at 3 p.m. Vendors will be selling cotton candy, funnel cakes, popcorn and kettle corn, burgers, brats, walking tacos, and

more. Children’s games will include barrel train rides, an inflatable slide, obstacle course, and a bounce house, face painting, bean bag toss, and more. The Guttenberg Fire Department’s water ball game will be open from 3-5 p.m. and the water balloon launch game will open at 4 p.m. Starting in the afternoon, music will be provided in the park by local D.J.s, The After Party. A beverage garden in the park will be open from 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. offering water, soda, and alcoholic beverages while you enjoy musical entertainment. A watermelon eating contest for all ages will begin in the gazebo at 3:30 p.m.

The Stars and Stripes parade will begin at 7 p.m., starting at the south marina up River Park Drive and ending at Main Street. This year’s theme is “Parade of Stars.” The parade will include floats, decorated bicycles, and mini floats, along with local emergency services and musical groups. The parade will line up at 6 p.m. behind Meuser Lumber, Koerner Street. Anyone wishing to enter into the parade should meet behind Meuser’s at 6 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for top parade entries in each category. Following the parade, the award-winning Clayton Ridge Drill Team will perform a series of dance routines at the intersection of Main Street and River Park Drive, near the Veterans’ Monument.

Fireworks over the river will begin at approximately 10 p.m.
