Ground broken for new Family Dentistry Associates of Monona office
Ground was broken July 18 for the new Family Dentistry Associates of Monona office, which will be located next to the Monona Family Aquatic Center and behind Fisk’s Farm and Home and the Davis Street Car Wash. Family Dentistry Associates of Monona broke ground July 18 for its new office, which will be located next to the Monona Family Aquatic Center and behind Fisk Farm and Home and the Davis Street Car Wash.
Dr. Mark Fohey said construction will commence around Aug. 1. He estimated the new office will be finished by early March 2017.
Speaking to the Monona Council late last year, Fohey said the practice has outgrown its current office at 101 Franklin St.
“We’re cramped for space a lot of the time in terms of treatment rooms and parking,” he noted.
Fohey said expanding the current office was considered, but ultimately not feasible. He hopes another business will be interested in buying and utilizing the building.
The new office, which will be 4,000 square feet, will have a residential-style look with brick and limestone, Fohey stated. The design is somewhat based on the office in Prairie du Chien, he added.
“It will be oriented so there will be good visibility from the highway,” Fohey said.
Dr. Steven Kurth built the Family Dentistry Associates of Monona office on Franklin Street in 1985. Fohey joined the team in 1985 and eventually purchased the business from Kurth.
The staff currently includes Fohey, as well as doctors Christi Larson, who joined in 2010, and Jessica Wilke, who started in 2014.
Tonya Meyer and Morgan Henkes have been dental hygienists at Family Dentistry Associates of Monona since 2006 and 2009, respectively.
Sharon Wettelson, who joined the team in 1986, is a registered dental assistant with expanded functions, as is Denise Kuenster, who started in 1987. Bailey Wagner, who began in 2011, and Andrea Miller, who started in 2014, are both dental assistants and taking classes to become certified in expanded functions.
Other staff members include Sally Bromelkamp, office manager since 1991; Amanda Goltz, insurance manager since 2003; Jamie Lightfoot, administrative executive secretary since 2002; Joy Meyer, administrative secretary since 2016; Judy Kurth, regional manager since 1986; Deb Hertges, public relations/marketing director since 2005; and Rosie Doerring, maintenance since 1985.
The office provides general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry and is also certified in Invisalign, the clear alternative to braces. In addition, they utilize the best equipment sterilization techniques available to dentists.
Family Dentistry Associates of Monona is also associated with Waukon Dental, started in 1980, and Dental Associates of Prairie du Chien, which opened in 1993.
