The Guttenberg city council accepted the resignation of City Manager Mary Willett at a special meeting held Monday, July 18.

The unanimous vote came after Mayor Russ Loven noted that discussion on the status of her employment has been ongoing and that he was ready to recommend that the council accept her resignation.

The motion to accept the resignation provided for six-months of health insurance coverage and four-months of salary for Willett, along with her agreement to a full release of any claim upon the city. Her resignation was effective immediately. The exact value of the severance package was not available at press time, pending final details to be worked out by Assistant City Attorney James Garrett and Willett's attorney.

In other business at Monday's meeting, the council approved the hiring of a full-time utility billing clerk. In March the council appointed Jamie Blume as Deputy City Clerk/Assistant City Manager to fill the vacancy created by the death of Julie Zittergruen. Blume advanced to the post from her Utility Billing Clerk position. Also in March the council approved the hiring of a part-time office assistant.

The council approved final change orders, pay requests and acceptance of work for the River Park Drive Water Main Replacement 2015 project.

An agenda item regarding the closing of the Pryam Street railroad crossing was deleted pending  completion of the resolution.

In attendance at the special meeting were council members Austin Greve, Fred Schaub, Virginia Saeugling, Jane Parker and Steve Friedlein.
