Driver cited for failure to report accident

On Saturday, Nov. 26, at 5:59 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one-vehicle crash on Highway 133 near Holly Road in Bloomington Township. It was reported that no one was around the crash scene.

Deputies arrived to find that a 2014 GMC Sierra appeared to have been northbound on Highway 133 and struck the end of a guardrail on the east side of the highway. It appeared that the truck then crossed the center line, left the road on the west side, struck a barbed wire fence and traveled down an embankment before coming to a stop in a creek bottom. The truck received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

A registration check on the truck showed the owner to be Beau Ploessl, 26, of Cassville. Deputies were unable to locate anybody at the scene of the crash and efforts to make contact with Ploessl that day were unsuccessful.

Deputies finally made contact with Ploessl the following day. He admitted to being the driver of the truck and stated he fled the scene and got a ride from a friend after the crash occurred. He was uninjured in the crash.

Ploessl was cited for failure to notify police of an accident, hit and run-property adjacent to a highway, and operator failure to wear a seat belt. B&M Auto, of Bloomington, assisted at the scene.
