Manetta Irene (Earle) Keefer, 101, of Clovis, N.M., died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016.

She was born Aug. 29, 1915 in Albany in a log home, the middle of five children, to William Edward and Lavina (Harriman) Earle. She attended Frog Hollow School, Albany School, and Fayette High School.

Manetta met the love of her life on a football field in Wadena, and the school's “guard,” Clay Vinton Keefer. They married on Oct. 22, 1932, in Wadena.

They moved to a family-owned farm on Cornhill Road midway between Fayette and Wadena, and raised two children, Mardell (1939) and Rickie (1954), and loved their family farm for 45 years. They were longtime members of the Wadena Presbyterian Church.

In 1977 the Keefers moved to start their life on the river, in Guttenberg, joining the United Methodist Church.

Manetta was twice chosen as the Guttenberg volunteer of the year.

In 2006 health concerns forced her to move to be close to daughter Mardell in Glendale, Ariz. These were good years. Life’s next step required 24/7 care at her son's home in Clovis, N.M. After a wonderful life spanning 101 years, she passed away and was called home. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her.

Manetta leaves her daughter, Mardell Pinson, Unit 3062, 4730 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ., 85301 and grandchildren, Mellisa and Brian; son, Rickie Keefer, and wife, Margaret, 629 Sunland Drive, Clovis, NM, 88101.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and siblings, Hazel Earle, Lena Earle, Merville Earle, and Wayne Earle.
