It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Tom Cheeseman, 60, on Saturday March 11, 2017. He was born October 30, 1956 in Prairie du Chien, WI to Byron and Helen Cheeseman, the last of four boys. He moved to Bakersfield in 1977 to escape the cold of Iowa and to start a new life in sunny Bako.

Living with “Grandpa Mac,” he started his career at Getty Oil, working through all of the transitions of the company to Chevron until his passing. Through a blind date, that I was totally opposed to, we met in 1980. It was love at first sight, and we married in 1981. We were blessed with two boys, Jared and Chris.

Tom loved to golf, fish, going to Vegas and hanging with his friends until his illness became too great. At that time, he found Facebook and was able to stay connected to old friends and make new ones, lots of new ones! He was a simple man, always ready to help those less fortunate. This quality made him special to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Julie, and sons Jared and Chris; brothers John, Bob, and Bill; sister-in-law Marilyn Fowler(Greg), brother-in-law, Harry Cessna, numerous nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention, but you know who you are.

Thank you to all of the wonderful friends and relatives who have shown so much compassion for us at his difficult time with food, flowers, cards, and kind words. We truly appreciate all you have done to help us through. Also thanks to the wonderful shaff at Hoffmann Hospice for treating Tom with dignity and helping him to make his transition.

Services were held Thursday, March, 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary. Celebration followed at 509 Quail Rock Ave.

Until we meet again Tomasita, I love you.
