Matthew Allison Jacobs, 20, of McGregor, died Sunday, March 19, at his home in McGregor. 

 

Matthew was born on April 11, 1996, to Sherrie Hallberg in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from MFL MarMac in 2014. Matt worked for ADM for two years and was currently employed at Aztec, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., as a welder. In his spare time he enjoyed four wheeling, riding motorcycles, driving big trucks, hunting and hanging out with friends. Matt loved fishing, playing football and was a MMA fighter.

 

Matt is survived by his mother, Sherrie Hallberg, of McGregor; two sisters, Jessica (Jordan) Thede, of Reinbeck, and Jennifer (Dakota) Nicholas, of Baggs, Wyoming; two step-brothers, Blake Konichek of Monona, and Tyler Hallberg of Luana; one step-sister, Kayla Hallberg, of Monona; nieces and nephew, Ella, Tad and Dally; maternal grandmother, Donna Broach, of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Gaylinda Hallberg of McGregor, and Cathi Corlett of Monona; special friend, Sarah Ferrel and numerous aunts and uncles.

 

Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Broach; and step-fathers, Daniel Hallberg and Dave Oelschlager.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at First Lutheran Church, McGregor, with Rev. Gary Hatcher as the Officiant. Burial will be held at a later date. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, is helping the family with the arrangements.
