Umbrella Arts leaders are pleased to announce sponsors for the 2017 River of Music season.  For the fourth consecutive summer, free concerts will be held in Ingleside Park on Friday evenings, 6-8 p.m., beginning June 2 and running through Aug. 11.

The summer tradition featuring local talent is made possible by the following loyal sponsors, who have underwritten the event every year:  Guttenberg Industries, Brown’s Ford, Kann Manufacturing, Peoples State Bank, and Dr. Michele and Steve Dikkers.  In addition, Fidelity Bank, Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Dan and Merry Berns have made consecutive gifts to the program.  New sponsors this year include Guttenberg Motel, Kluesner Sanitation, and the family of Wally and Marge Felland.

These ten community leaders make the free concert series possible for Guttenberg families and weekend guests. In addition, Umbrella Arts volunteers help by cleaning up the park after concerts, introducing bands and speaking between sets, and simply being present to assist with any concerns that may arise.

Umbrella Arts volunteers also pass a freewill offering basket at the concerts to support projects and programs that support their vision that Guttenberg is a place where local art in all its form is celebrated. The cow sculpture project, support for the June 3 Art By the River, and arts-related field trips for Clayton Ridge Middle School students are among their current programs.

Umbrella Arts is a free-standing 501.c3 and membership is open to anyone interested in meeting other arts enthusiasts. Members of the nonprofit are grateful to the Guttenberg Gallery and Creativity Center for its past fiscal sponsorship, which helped the organization take shape. Meetings are held in members’ homes on the fourth Tuesday from 5:30 - 7 p.m. and include dinner and a business meeting. For more information or to join, contact board president Karen Riser at (563) 252-3432 or by email at gary_riser@msn.com.
