James Arthur Wallin, 82, of Mountain Home, Ark., passed away on May 16.

 

He was born Aug. 30, 1934,  in Seneca, the son of Charles and Marion Horal Wallin. James was a 1952 graduate of Seneca High School. He married Mary O’Brien on Sept. 28, 1990, in Urbana, Ill., and worked as an industrial engineer for Caradco. 

 

James was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. James lived in Mountain Home since 1997, moving from Rantoul, Ill. He was a past Post Commander (2000-2001) and member of the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed working the pancake breakfasts.

 

James is survived by his wife, Mary Wallin, of Mountain Home, Ark.; two sons Joseph (Susan) Wallin, of Rantoul, Ill., and James Wallin, of Danville, Ill.; a daughter Jean M. (Richard) Hankins, of O’Fallen, Ill.; a brother Robert Wallin; two sisters Norma Wagner and Wilma (Cliton) Smith; four grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Thomas, Charles and Fred; and one grandson, Brandon.

 

A gathering of friends for James will be held Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m., at the Alley-White Legion Post #52, with military honors also being accorded. Memorials may be made to Alley-White American Legion Post #52, 717 N. Market St., Mountain Home, AR 72653.

 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Daniel Valach and the nurses at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Arrangments are being handled by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
