Marjorie Esther Ruth Walter, 79, of Luana, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 24, at Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. 

 

Marjorie was born July 6, 1937 to Rev. Walter and Esther (Karnopp) Bodamer in Prairie du Chien. After graduating high school, Marjorie attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and received a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She worked as a pediatric nurse at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.

 

Marjorie was united in marriage with Gene Walter on Nov. 27, 1965, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Prairie du Chien. She married into the farm where she devoted the rest of her life working with her family. Marjorie enjoyed cross stitching, collecting plates and doing ceramics.

 

Marjorie is survived by her sons, Tim (Meriam) Walter, of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Terry Walter of Coalton, West Virginia; stepson, Jeff Walter, of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Tiffany, Bailey and Tamara Walter, Mavorick Walter and Zachary Walter.

 

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Walter in 2008; her parents, Rev. Walter and Esther Bodamer; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lester and Louise Walter.

 

Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, Iowa, with a one hour visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. before services at the church on Tuesday. Rev. Marshall Hahn will be the Officiant. Burial will follow at Gooding Cemetery, rural Farmersburg, Iowa. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation service of Monona, Iowa, is helping the family with arrangements.
