Several area high school track and field athletes have qualified for the State Track and Field Meet to be held at UW – La Crosse on June 2 and June 3.
Prairie du Chien’s Evan Teynor and Eric Nolan each finished fourth at the Division 2 McFarland Sectional on Thursday, May 25 to qualify for the State Meet. The top four finishers in each event qualified for state. Teynor had a personal best time of 40.79 in the 300-meter hurdles. Nolan had a personal best of 49 feet, 4 inches in the shot put.
Prairie du Chien was 18th in the boys meet with 18.5 points. There were 34 teams competing. Prairie finished in 26th place in the girls meet with 7 points. There were 32 teams.
Wauzeka-Steuben, River Ridge and Seneca all competed in the Division 3 Bangor Sectional on May 25. River Ridge finished in seventh place in the girls meet with 28 points. Wauzeka-Steuben finished tied for eighth with 27. There were 32 teams that scored points.
Wauzeka-Steuben was 20th in the boys meet with 11 points. River Ridge was 29th with 1 point. There were 29 teams that scored.
Tatem Baures of Wauzeka-Steuben qualified for state in two events. She won the 1600-meter run at Bangor in a time of 5:32.89. Baures also won the 3200 in 11:58.91.
Allison Oswald of Wauzeka-Steuben finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.02 to qualify for state.
The River Ridge 3200-meter relay team of Skylar White, Faith Schier, Taylor Langmeier and Rachael Herrick took second in 10:20.87 to qualify for the state meet. River Ridge also qualified by finishing fourth in the 1600-meter relay in 4:14.89. The team was White, Herrick, Schier and Karli Jandro.
