Lauretta I. Fisher
Lauretta I. Fisher, 97, of Eastman, passed away Thursday, June 15, at the Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton.
She was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Eastman, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Stluka) Klema. She married Robert Fisher on Nov. 26, 1940. She and her husband farmed on Wall Ridge for many years. Lauretta worked as a cook for the Elmwood Home and later at the Prairie Convalescent Center. Robert preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by her son Loyd, of Knoxville, Ill.; her daughter Diane (Rolland) Propst, of Evansville; her sisters, Geneva Pomerening, of Wauzeka, and Anna Mae Krause Sund, of Viroqua; a brother-in-law, Lowell Try; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son Robert; an infant daughter; her brothers, Milton and Charles; along with her sisters, Julia Sprosty, Stella Try and Florence Klema.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church, Rev. Lynn Schreck officiating, with burial in the National Cemetery both in Eastman. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
