We lost our beloved Jim (Jimmie) Pitzer on June 25, at the age of 81. Jim lived in Prairie du Chien and passed away surrounded by family at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse after a short illness.

Jim was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, the great outdoors, and riding his Harley Davidson. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who lit up his life. Jim retired from 3M after many years of service. He had hobbies too numerous to mention and he enjoyed spending time tinkering, repairing and working on many special projects that kept him busy.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Becwar) Pitzer, of 51 years; his children Lori (David) Bedward, Angie (Leb) Brown, Marty (Donna) Pitzer, Stephanie (Bob) Szopinksi, Michele (the late Mick) Klema, Bonnie (Kevin) Johnston and Mitch Pitzer; siblings, Burnita (John) Johnson, Ronnie (Diane) Pitzer, Art (Marilyn) Pitzer and Chuck (the late Helen) Stagman. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as his two beloved pets Peanut and Sarah.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jay and Mary Pitzer; sons Mike and Jim; brothers Bob, Wesley, Gene, Buzz and Eddie; and grandson Jamie.

A memorial service for Jim is scheduled at the Memorial Garden on St. Feriole Island at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 29. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
