Michael Wayne McFadden
Michael Wayne McFadden, 82, of McGregor, Iowa, and longtime resident of Rockford, Illinois passed away Thursday, July 13, at Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. Heaven rejoiced as it welcomed Mike to his eternal home.
Born April 28, 1935, in Dante, Va., the son of John and Nora McFadden.
Mike was the owner of Silver Lining Painting and Decorating, and a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades for over 50 years. He touched the lives of all who knew him through his kind and gentle spirit and was always there to lend a helping hand when requested.
Mike is survived by his wife, Rachel; daughter, Georgia (Keith) Govier, of Prairie du Chien; sons, Tom (Cindy) McFadden, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Walter (Lori) McFadden, of Minneapolis; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Tisdale, of Marionville, Mo.
Mike was preceded in death by sons, Michael Jr. (Julie) McFadden and John (Carol) McFadden; sisters, Hattie Gobble, Frances Boring, Nell Gifford; and brothers, Walter, James and Burl McFadden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa, with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and a visitation at 10 a.m. until time of services. Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez will be the Officiant. A service will also be held at Rock Church in Rockford, Ill., on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Walter McFadden residing.
Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockford, Ill. A memorial fund has been established at Great River Care Center, 1400 W. Main, McGregor, IA 52157. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor, Iowa, is helping the family with the arrangements.
