Miles Edward Prchal, 74, of Guttenberg, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Guttenberg Care Center surrounded by family.

A celebration of Miles’ life will be held at the Guttenberg Marina Center Aug. 26, between 3-6 p.m.

Miles was born on Jan. 3, 1943, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Michael and Helen Prchal.

Miles’ life was spent overcoming the odds after contracting spinal meningitis as a toddler. Dealing with epilepsy and intellectual disability throughout his life, he learned survival techniques, as well as compassion. As a great uncle, he knew love and acceptance in a very special way. 

He is survived by his siblings, Michael of Nashville, Tenn., Mark (Laurel) of Jacksonville, Ore., Myron (Toni) of Hampshire, Ill.; and Matthew (Cheryl) of Pompano Beach, Fla; sister-in-law, Debbie of Dunnellon, Fla; along with many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. Miles also leaves behind his Guttenberg adoptive family of Ron (Audree) Niehaus.

Miles was predeceased by his brother, Martin.
