The Prairie du Chien girls cross country team ran incredibly well in their first meet of the year against conference champion DodgePoint.

The PdC girls edged out DodgePoint to win the meet 26 to 29.

Junior Amber Huser finished in first place. Teammate Karly Jaynes took third, followed by Greta Hein in sixth, Ella Hein in seventh and Meg Katzung in ninth place.

“I’m just so happy and proud of my teammates. We worked hard together all summer and it has definitely paid off,” said junior Ella Hein.

“Wow,” said Assistant Coach Mike Liddell, “This is going to be a fun year.”

DodgePoint beat the Prairie du Chien boys 15 to 91, but each runner ran hard as an individual against a very tough team.

The cross country team competes next Saturday, Sept. 2 in the Darlington.
