Pearl Agnes Schaefers, 77, of Guttenberg, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 19, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Burial was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Volga.

Pearl was born on Feb. 18, 1940, in Dubuque, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Naber) Gaul.

Pearl was united in marriage with Francis Schaefers on Oct. 15, 1960, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Dyersville and this union blessed them with seven children. Pearl farmed with her husband and made a home for her family for many years. Pearl's greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and many friends; she was a very active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery work, gardening, praying the rosary, making puzzles, going for walks, and helping with many funeral dinners with St. Anne’s Society. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Domino Ladies, and was a member of the Christian Experience Weekend (CEW).

Pearl is survived by her seven children, Michael Schaefers, Jerry (Lynda) Schaefers, Andy Schaefers, Marie (LeVirgil) Monroe, Elizabeth “Betty” (Tom) Callan, Christopher (Brenda) Schaefers and Alex (Teresa) Schaefers; 26 grandchildren; siblings, Sylvester Gaul, Gwen Healey, Mary Lou Meyers, Ruth Hilkin, Karl Gaul, Julie Bradley, Cy Gaul, Mark Gaul and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2005; grandson, Lee Smith; siblings, Rose Gansemer, Bernard and Leon Gaul.
