Lois Mildred Morarend, 84, of Edgewood, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 15, from 3-7 p.m., at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. 

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport, conducted by Pastor Margaret Yackel-Juleen.

Inurnment will be at Mount Harmony Cemetery, rural Garber.

Lois was born on July 24, 1933, in Millville, the daughter of Martin Orville and Edna Katrina (Brandenburg) White. Lois attended Clayton County rural schools and graduated from Luana High School, where she was an outstanding basketball player. 

On Dec. 8, 1953, Lois married Delois Edward George Morarend. Four children were born to this union. The couple farmed for a year near Guttenberg before moving to to a farm across from Motor Mill. In 1980, they moved near Elkader, before making their final home together at the Gernand Retirement Center in Strawberry Point. Delois died on Jan. 31, 2007.

Lois worked for Utah Electronics until it closed and then was a veterinary assistant in Elkader for 20 years. Following retirement, she worked part-time for RISE in Elkader. 

Lois enjoyed traveling, going on many bus trips with Delois. They toured the United States and were also able to travel abroad, visiting Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, among other countries. Lois collected dolls, enjoyed sewing and angels, and especially loved chocolate.

Lois is survived by her four children, David (Kris) Morarend of Strawberry Point, Neil (Carol) Morarend of Guttenberg, Barbara (Rollie) Totman of Edgewood, and Randy Morarend of Edgewood; four grandchildren, Arron (Taryn) Lincoln, Tabitha (Melvin) Lambert, Megan Lincoln, Nathan (Jenni) Morarend; four great-grandchildren, Brylie Lincoln, Chanley Lincoln, Ella Morarend, and Makayla Lambert; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Moser, Gwen (Eric) Knutson, Amy Moser, Debbie Jo Moser, and Chris Krapfl; and step-great-grandchildren, John and Nicholas Panagiotou, Josie Young, Tyler Heideman, Gavin Moser, Kenzie Hempstead, Adam Gleason, and Kayla Krapfl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delois, in 2007; her parents; a brother, Ronald White; and a step-grandson, Travis Krapfl.
