Margaret R. Steger, 67, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, at her home. 

 

She was born March 22, 1950, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Louis and Anita (Check) Steger. Margaret was one of the first clients of the Opportunity Center in Prairie du Chien. She enjoyed working at Kaber’s Restaurant and the Star Cinema. She especially loved her annual week of camping at Badger Camp. 

 

She is survived by her father, Louis, of Prairie du Chien; her siblings, Mary Jo (Steve) Johnsrude, of Wauzeka, Ed (Donna), of Prairie du Chien, Carol (Neal) Davis, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Tim (Char) and Terry Steger, both of Prairie du Chien, and Theresa (Dan) Brandes, of Ferryville; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Catholic Schools or the Opportunity Center.
