Betty Rose Kuhlman, 94, of Edgewood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. 

Visitation will be from 3-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood and also one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Colesburg, conducted by Pastor Joan Thomas.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Colesburg.

Betty was born on March 29, 1923, in Garber, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Lundt) Voss. 

Betty graduated in 1940 from Elkport High School. On June 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kermit Kuhlman in Elkader. Four children were born to this union. The couple, along with Kermit’s father, Kenneth, started Kuhlman Construction. Betty worked as a secretary for the company, first in their home and then later in the old Colesburg Bank Building, which they purchased in 1968. Kermit and Betty later divorced, but she remained active in the business. 

Betty was a member of the Colesburg United Methodist Church, the Commercial Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and Order of the Eastern Star. 

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Rick (Jane) Kuhlman of Guttenberg, Reid (Janie) Kuhlman of Colesburg, and Rhonda (Jon Beck) Juran of Colesburg; 10 grandchildren, Kenny (Donna) Kuhlman, Ericka Kuhlman, Katie (Mike) Headrick, Johanna Kuhlman, Kolton Kuhlman, Tara (Wade) McShane, Ross (Laura) Kuhlman, Jason Juran, Aaron (Sara) Juran, and Justine Juran; and 16 great-grandchildren. 

Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Kuhlman.
