Elaine was born Feb. 24, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Fannie (Ross) Rodas in rural Guttenberg.

Elaine was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Church in Elkader. She graduated from the Elkader High School in 1943. On Aug. 20, 1947, Elaine married the love of her life, Theodore "Ted" Roth, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elkader. This union was blessed with three children, Dennis, Dean and Diane. Elaine was always said to be very loving and kind as well as a devoted wife to Ted. She could be found with homemade sweets in her home as she was a fantastic cook and baker. In her younger years she loved to go square dancing, tending to her garden, knitting dishcloths, or watching the Iowa Hawkeyes or the occasional soap opera, As the World Turns. She could always be found supporting the band boosters or the hospital auxiliary.

Elaine will be forever loved and cherished by her three children, Dennis (Virginia) Roth of Guttenberg, Dean (Lindy) Roth of Rochester Minn., and Diane (friend Paul) Bockenstedt of Guttenberg; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Lowell (Maureen) Rodas of Strawberry Point; sister-in-law Charlene Rodas of Strawberry Point; and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted in 2015; siblings, Phyllis O’Rourke, Don “Bud” Rodas, Betty DeRuiter; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wilson, Katherine Clinton; brothers-in-law, Arthur O’Rourke, Arnie DeRuiter, Bob Wilson, Gerald Clinton, Art and Al Roth.
