Eugene H. Hafner, 96, of Birmingham, Ala., passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at his residence.

Visitation was Saturday, March 3, at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home, Birmingham, Ala., followed by a celebration of life service.

Eugene was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Elkport. 

He served in Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a salesman for John Deere for over 30 years at the Timonium, Maryland branch office as Manager Of Special Sales - Governmental, selling industrial equipment to the governments of 19 states along the east coast. He loved spending time with his family, reading and working jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Jansen; son, Stephen Hafner; granddaughters, Erin Flowers (Tommy) and Lauren Scott (Justin) and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethyl Wynone Hafner.

The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice and the many caregivers who took wonderful care of Gene.
