The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to preview the upcoming Wisconsin Highway 27 construction project in Crawford County. The meeting will be held Monday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church meeting hall, 200 Main St., Eastman.

Construction will begin April 2 on the rural section of Highway 27, between Cipra Road and East Meadow Street. The rural segment begins around 500 feet north of Cipra Road and extends north to approximately 0.15 miles south of the 27/179 intersection in the village of Eastman—a total of 9.26 miles.

Highway 27 will be closed to through-traffic during construction. The posted detour route will be Prairie du Chien to Mt. Sterling, via Highway 35, to Highway 171. Access will remain open to residents and businesses on Highway 27.

The project will resurface the existing roadway pavement. Profile revisions and shoulder improvements will require grading on the side slopes along the entire project length. All intersections will be upgraded within the project limits. The Wachuta/Limery Road and Plum Creek Road intersections will be realigned to improve sight distances.

An additional meeting will be scheduled in June to discuss the urban section of the project within the village of Eastman. This section, expected to begin July 5, will reconstruct the highway between East Meadow Lane and Highway 179.
