Elfrieda “Effie” Ann Bromelkamp, 90, of Monona, Iowa died Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Elfrieda Ann was born June 22, 1927 to William and Christine (Horns) Mohr in Elkader, Iowa. She graduated from Elkader High School in 1945.

Effie was united in marriage with Donald Bromelkamp on September 27, 1952 at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader, Iowa. Two children were born to this union. During their early married life, they farmed south of Monona. After moving to town, Effie worked for H. Leslie Leas as the bookkeeper for several years, then worked at Union State Bank until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with the Heritage Club, listening and dancing to Country Music and spending time with family.

Effie is survived by her two children, Bernard (Sally) Bromelkamp and Luanne Bromelkamp, of Monona, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kelly (Casey Stickfort) Bromelkamp and Kim (Tom) Lott; one sister, Lilly Stence of Elkader, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Effie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald on December 14, 1981; and her parents, William and Christine Mohr.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Daniel Knipper as the celebrant. There will be a one hour visitation before mass at the church on Monday.

 

A private family burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.
